After I mention the most popular gay resorts in Key West, as well as the top gay guest houses, browse my additional list of LGBT-friendly resorts popular with gay travelers.
Keep in mind that many Key West hotels that are popular with gay travelers are not always branded specifically as “gay hotels.” Key West is known for being one of the gayest destinations in America, so you’ll likely meet gay friends wherever you stay.
The legendary Island House Gay Resort has been around since 1999 and is among the most popular in Key West. Expect a pool full of rowdy gay men and unicorn floats upon arrival! Island house is branded as a clothing-optional gay resort that welcomes all types of men.
They’ve got tons of awesome room options, including apartment-style suites with full kitchens and private terraces. For travelers with a smaller budget, check out their shared bathroom accommodations.
If you need a little extra convincing, Island house offers 20-30% discounts for college students, military and essential service workers like firefighters and law enforcement. You might just be able to live out your roleplay fantasy if you’re lucky!
In a clothing optional resort with such a sexually charged atmosphere, I’m sure you have questions. Get all your answers on the Island House FAQ page. Prices start at $260 for shared-bath accommodations and top out around $530 per night for two-bedroom suites.
Equator Resort is a highly-reviewed male-only clothing-optional gay resort that’s been around since 1997. They proudly offer rooms of varying styles, many with awesome private balconies.
With two pools, two jacuzzi tubs and daily happy hours, there’s no doubt you’ll have a good time. Equator Resort often hosts Saturday open house events where guys outside the resort can join in on the fun!
They also offer massage services, daily breakfast and frequently host special experiences like nude morning yoga. Minimum stay depends on the time of year and prices start at $149. All guests must be 21+ years of age.
They don’t explicitly say it, but the Saint Hotel Key West clearly caters to the gay community. With the motto “play naughty and sleep saintly,” there’s no doubt you’ll be surrounded by gay guys.
The Saint Hotel is a Marriott property, a heads up to Bonvoy members! Their pricing is pretty average, with small rooms starting at $300 per night and double queen bed rooms around $440 per night.
Rooms come in a bunch of different layouts too. Some of them have electric-blue accent lighting, a theme throughout the hotel. If you love socializing poolside, check out the rooms that have small terraces steps away from their gorgeous infinity pool.
In my opinion, Alexander’s Guesthouse is the most stylish option of all the gay Key West accommodations. Everything has a modern, chic feel. I especially love their rooms that have a private deck with an outdoor shower!
They’re also one of the few accommodations that specifically brands themselves as a “gay and lesbian” resort, welcoming every person among the LGBTQ+ community. Amenities include a large pool, spa, cozy lounges and several sun decks with clothing-optional areas.
Prices tend to be on the higher side for such a luxurious hotel retreat. If you book through Hotels.com though, you’ll typically get a much better room rate at Alexander’s.
A gay guesthouse smack in the center of the action, New Orleans House is an affordable and convenient gay guesthouse option. Located on Duval Street, you’ll never be too far from anything in Key West!
New Orleans House is perfect if you love to party! The Bourbon Street Pub is right downstairs, usually overflowing with people out on the street.
With some of the lowest prices in Key West, the New Orleans gay guesthouse is an easy pick for budget travelers. Rooms start as low as $230 per night.
One of the most iconic resorts in Key West, The Southernmost House is super popular with gay travelers. They’re an adults-only boutique LGBT-friendly hotel that’s undeniably Instagram-worthy. Their standard room rate is $350 per night.
If you prefer beachfront accommodations, this hotel might just suit you perfectly. Expect classic Victorian design inside and out here on the southernmost point of the continental United States.
Those who prefer large hotel chains will definitely enjoy the LGBT-friendly Hyatt Centric Key West. Robust amenities will keep you comfortable, especially after you return from parties or visiting friends in town.
Staying at the Key West Hyatt, you can expect larger rooms and greater check-in flexibility than you’ll likely find at the gay-only resorts and guesthouses.
Many rooms offer ocean views, some with private balconies. Expect to pay steeper prices that other hotels to stay here at the Hyatt. Rates start around $480 per night.
The Coco Plum Inn offers chic accommodations at a budget price. It’s truly a diamond in the rough for travelers who want to spend as little as possible at an LGBT-friendly resort.
The hotel is so popular, it tends to sell out pretty far in advance, so don’t miss this one!
Prices listed on their website tend to be higher, but if you book with Hotels.com, you can usually get better rates with Coco Plum Inn.
Their traditional style and quaint balconies overlooking the pool are delightfully inviting. Rooms also include a mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker.
Coco Plum Inn’s location is also fantastic, one block away from central Duval Street. It’s perfect if you want to be in the heart of Key West near cafés and nightlife.
Take in all the ocean vibes at Pier House Resort, an LGBT-friendly Key West resort loaded with amenities. Offering both one and two-bedroom suites, Pier House is a great option for groups who prefer to share accommodations.
