2021 Gay Ski Week Events: Which Are Still Planned?
Gay Ski Weeks Still Happening This Season
Many gay ski week events around the world have cancelled or modified plans due to the pandemic. Don’t worry though! There are still plenty of options to choose from for 2021.
Even if you’re not a skier, you can easily enjoy the fun après ski events with friends at a gay ski week. It’s an awesome way to spice up your winter, especially if you’re cooped up at home.
Here are the gay ski weeks that are still planned, their dates, host hotels and covid-19 precautions.
Gay Ski Week In Aspen
I love the sight of Aspen’s drag queens skiing down the bunny hill! This year, Aspen gay ski week is hosting a “Lite” version of usual events. Larger gatherings will be modified or changed, but smaller and some virtual events are in the works.
Stowe Vermont Winter Rendezvous
If you’re looking for a gay ski week without much pressure to ski, consider Stowe’s Winter Rendezvous pride event. They still have some fun parties planned (I love their StoweBowl bowling alley event). Double check though, since changes are likely we get closer to the event dates.
Park City Gay Ski Week
Part of the trio of Elevation ski weeks, Utah Gay Ski Week is reassuring us there will be a full schedule of safety-conscious events. One of the most popular gay ski weeks in the United States, I doubt they would disappoint!
Swiss Gay Ski: Lenderheide
Given their later dates in the month of March, the Swiss Gay Ski program is still to be determined. Based on prior year’s photos, the adorable group dinners and wide-open ski trails look like a fantastic and more low-key gay ski week option.
The Gayski website has a list of useful covid-related cancellation policies for the host hotel, Hotel Schweizerhof Lenzerheide (linked above). Most notable is the ability to cancel up until 20 days before your trip completely free of charge.
Mammoth Gay Ski Week
Mammoth gay ski week is one of the most popular in the United States. It’s one of three events hosted by Elevation gay ski, known for their extravagant parties, attended by an international crowd.
Tickets are not on sale yet (as of December 2020). They will likely go on sale as soon as events are fully planned. You can however book your hotel now to get ahead of everyone else.
European Snow Pride: Tignes
Partnering with Scruff, the 2021 event lineup includes ski and snowboard groups, local ski area exploration, and private-terrace lunches.
European Gay Ski Week: Les Arcs
Looking for a budget option? Well this year, European Gay Ski Week in Les Arcs is absolutely free! That is, if you book your hotel through the EGSW website.
There’s a full range of planned events. I absolutely love how they’re organizing solo traveler tables at the seated events!
Winter sports, a pride breakfast and a beer launch are all on the list for Jasper Pride. The events span a long weekend, from Thursday through Sunday. Definitely a good LGBT ski weekend option!
Queenstown Winter Pride
To avoid any confusion, Queenstown Winter Pride is the same thing as Queenstown gay ski week. Skiing is part of the pride event lineup! And they have quite a packed lineup of events. Quiz night, cabaret wars, ladies’ night and a boat party are just the start.
If you love Kiwis and Aussies, Queenstown Pride is the perfect choice.
Cancelled & Postponed LGBT Ski Weeks
If you didn’t see one of the more noteworthy gay ski weeks in the list above, it’s probably because that particular even has been postponed or cancelled.
The list below covers all of the known cancelled or postponed gay ski week events (as of December 15th, 2020).
Whistler Gay Ski Week
- Location: Whistler, British Colombia, Canada
Status: Cancelled, New Dates Set
Unfortunately, this season’s Whistler Pride & Ski Festival was cancelled. The event team posted a saddening message noting that their planned program simply faced too many challenges amid the pandemic.
The next Whistler gay ski week dates are set for January 23-30, 2022.
Tremblant: Elevation Gay Ski Week
- Location: Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, Canada
Elevation gay ski’s 2021 Tremblant event is cancelled. New dates will be released soon for the 2022 event. The brand is still running the Mammoth and Utah ski weeks in 2021 as described above.
Arosa Gay Ski Week
- Location: Arosa, Switzerland
Status: Cancelled, New Dates Set
Switzerland’s popular Arosa Gay & Lesbian Ski Pride is cancelled for 2021. New dates are already set for next season. The next Arosa gay ski week will be January 22-29, 2022. Check out the short video below from prior year’s festivities.
- Location: Breckenridge, Colorado, USA
According to the GoBreck website, Breck Pride is postponed for now. Last year, Breckenridge Pride was at the beginning of April, so there’s still time for new plans to roll out. I love Breckenridge’s official video below, showcasing Breck Pride 2020.
Telluride Gay Ski Week
Location: Telluride, Colorado, USA
Status: Cancelled (assumed)
It seems the Telluride website hasn’t been updated from the past 2020 event. Since prior year’s events were hosted in late February, I’m going to assume Telluride gay ski week is cancelled. This one is a popular one though, so I’ll be on the lookout for any updates.
